Public Promotions Director
Job
Description
The
Idea / Promotions Director
(aka; Public Relations Director or Idea Director) is
responsible for assuring that CLC RADIO meets the information and education
needs of its audience as ascertained by the PROGRAM DIRECTOR AND General Manager
(or Advisors and Station Manager)*.
The Public Service (Promotion) Director's
term generally lasts 2 complete consecutive or 4 total semesters within a 4 year
total span. This position may be competitively
reposted at the conclusion of every semester completed.
Specific duties and qualifications include the following:
1.
The
Idea / Promotions Director must be enrolled as a student for a minimum of six
credit hours and must maintain a 2.0 GPA.
2.
The
Idea / Promotions Director should establish contacts with leaders and non-profit
organizations, on-campus and in the community, and discuss possible areas of
concern, which might be addressed by public service campaigns on CLC RADIO.
3.
As
a member of the CLC RADIO Managing Board*, the Idea / Promotions Director should
present areas of concern to the Board and discuss possible campaign ideas to
address those concerns.
4.
The
Idea / Promotions Director should prepare the campaign materials (live announcer
scripts, produced spots, programs) to air on CLC RADIO with the assistance of
the Production Director, and should maintain an accurate record of when those
materials aired. In many cases,
materials may be adapted from outside sources for use on CLC RADIO.
5.
The
Idea / Promotions Director shall maintain the live-read BOOK, WHICH contains all campus
and community activities that are free, and announcements of all on-campus activities that charge a fee,
such as events in the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts or in the
Physical Education Building, etc.
6.
The
Idea / Promotions Director is expected to schedule and keep at least five (5) office
hours per week, over two or three days. At
least on (1) hour per week must overlap with the office hours of the Program
Director, Music Director, Student Engineer, Station Manager, Director of Student
Activities, and the SGA Treasurer, Vice President, President (for SGA members,
in that successive order) office hours. Office Hours must be posted no
later than the 4:00pm of the Friday of the 2nd week of classes.
7. The
Idea / Promotions Director will also assume
responsibilities for promotion of DJs, their shows, ideas from the staff and
from DJs to the staff and other DJs, the station, and the college (as an
extension service to the college and the surrounding Lake county, IL..
communities, generally easily accomplished with the help of
CLC
PR department news ("press")
releases).
8. Both he
promo director and the psa director have the highest level of DELEGATION
AUTHORITY WITHIN THE CLCRADIO MANAGEMENT TEAM. THEY MAY ASSIGN ANY AND ALL
TASKS RELATING TO PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES, whether WEB DESIGN,
POSTER OR BANNER MAKING AND PRINTING, AUDIO PRODUCTION of promotional material, ETC.
* MANAGING BOARD WILL ONLY BE CREATED BY STUDENTS THROUGH
CONSENT OF MUSIC STATION ADVISOR(S) AND DIRECTOR OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES.
