Kenosha Drummer's featured artist (October 2006) is Dave Jennings:
(bio provided by Dr. Mike Flack, copied from Dave's geocities site, and corrected/added info from Dan Prowse)
David Jennings has more than 20 years of experience playing drums and percussion in various ensembles of jazz, Latin, rock, world, classical, fusion and big band styles. From 1991 through 1997 David lived in Los Angeles and was the leader, composer and drummer for his own electric jazz quintet. This band recorded a CD of David's compositions in 1995 entitled A Clear View. David's group played in clubs and festivals throughout the Southern California area including a regular monthly gig at the famous Baked Potato jazz club in Hollywood. David also composed and played drums for the eclectic trio Toxic Jazz, which featured bassist Baba Elefante and guitarist Dave Murdy. This group recorded a self entitled CD in 1996 with special guest artist saxophonist Eric Marienthal. Also in 1996 David composed the soundtrack for the independent feature film Blowfish (not yet credited in iMBD)
David moved back to Chicago in 1998 and in 2000 he recorded a world music CD of original compositions entitled Essence of the Soul. David is currently the leader, composer and drummer of the David Jennings Acoustic Ensemble. The DJAE performs at festivals and clubs throughout the Midwest. The ensemble also is for hire to teach clinics at colleges, high schools and middle schools. The DJAE has just released their debut CD of David's original compositions entitled "Eternity". David also continues to play freelance gigs.
David has shared the stage at various festivals with Bela Fleck, Bruce Hornsby, Roy Hargrove, Paquito D`Rivera, Gary Willis, Marco Mendoza, Terrance Blanchard, War and Three Dog Night. His performance credits include Eric Marienthal, Brandon Fields, Kim Stone, Ernie Watts, Chuchito Valdez, Don Menza, Albert Wing, Jeff Nathanson, Ernie Denov (Bad Dog U), Chris Clemente, Samuel Del Real, and Carl Coan.
David has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Theory from DePaul University in Chicago and he recently earned his Master of Arts degree in Computer/Electronic Music Pedagogy from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.
David is currently teaching Music Theory III and IV, Percussion, Fundamentals of Music, and Intro to Music at the College of Lake County, Illinois.
Dave can currently be seen performing every Saturday night - often with Dr. Flack on piano & fellow Bassist Anthony Brock - at the Starbuck's Facility at Rte 43 & Rte 176 in Lake Bluff Illinois, in that shopping center with the Jewel. Dave can also be caught with his Big Band pants on, drumming the CMJO at Fitzgerald's quite often, led by Dr. Flack - also, again, with Brock-on-Bass.
Most upward in time, you will see Mr. Jennings' Acoustic Ensemble perform during one of their many CD release parties (spilling drinks all over their newest CD, "_Eternity_"), all up in the Frank Harnish Experimental Theatre of the College of Lake County, Grayslake, IL. on Sunday November 19th, 2006, at 7:30pm SHARP! And you all must dress nice, too! But, for more current on Dave:
