CLICK HERE FOR THE MOST UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION ABOUT
TUITION PAYMENT DEADLINES
BUT, PLEASE REMEMBER:
A minimum balance due to CLC of $100
is required before you can enter the FACTS plan. IF your total tuition due
is 100.00 or MORE, you CAN enroll and use the FACTS plan AND a $25
non-refundable FACTS enrollment fee will be charged to your FACTS account
IMMEDIATELY upon entering the plan.
EXPLAINED FURTHER: WHEN YOUR TOTAL TUITION (cost of books are not eligible,
as far as we can tell) DUE
TO CLC IS LESS THAN 100.00 (USD), then you will be BILLED BY CLC AS BEFORE.
A GOOD EXAMPLE OF THIS WOULD BE IF YOU WERE ENROLLING IN A SINGLE CREDIT CLASS
AND the total due CLC would be LESS THAN 100.00. ANOTHER EXAMPLE: If
you are taking classes through Adult Continuing Education and the total TUITION happens
to be less than 100.00 for all TUITION (not books, remember), then you will be
BILLED BY CLC as in past times.
THIS INFORMATION IS NOT AVAILABLE (as of
12-17-2006) ON THE CLC WEBSITE ANYWHERE - THAT IS WHY WE
PROVIDE IT HERE.
Why are we
asking? At the
financial aid webpage, they use the term Cost of Attendance (COA),
that includes all of your likely legitimized expenses for
school - not just tuition and fees. That's fine, however, our concern is
that the FACTS payment plan is set up and ONLY MENTIONS tuition that may be paid
through that plan - no mention about the other Costs of Attendance (books,
transportation, supplies, etc.).
BASICALLY: We do not want anyone to think that ALL of your COA can be covered
by FACTS (if you are eligible after adding all of your COA) when that is
probably not true. We believe that ONLY your TUITION AND FEES
may be brought into the FACTS system. Other than the official term "COA",
we assume that tuition means just that: TUITION (and fees, such as allowable
taxes and technology and activity fees) ONLY.
Then again, we HOPE that in the future MORE or ALL of a student's COA can be
added into the FACTS payment plan. We cannot command it, but we can hope.

FROM THE NEW OFFICE OF STUDENT LIFE
09/26/2007
submitted 9-1-2006
The
NEW deadline, hard deadline, is September 6th 8:30pm
in person to pay your tuition bill or by Sept 6th midnight to be signed into the
FACTS system to Pay your tuition bill. If you are paying in person
at the college, your FULL amount is due at the Cashier's window by this newer
PERMANENT deadline. This new deadline WILL NOT CHANGE. You can NOT
sign up for a payment plan at the Cashier window! Read the rest of this
article for more important info about the FACTS system!
FROM THE CLC WEBSITE:
CLC is very happy to have you in class. That’s why we
want to remind you that if you haven’t fulfilled your payment
obligations to the college, you need to do it now.
You can meet your payment obligation by taking one of these
steps:
On Sept. 6, CLC will cancel the enrollment of students who have not
taken one of these steps to meet their payment obligation.
You’re important to us! Please make sure you "pay and stay."

The Office of Student
Life has helped arrange that National City Bank and First Midwest Bank offer
to sign students up for checking or savings accounts for those who do not have
one yet. The reason you should
know: the college’s new payment process (called
FACTS)
requires all students to have a banking account or credit card in order to sign
up for the FACTS
payment plan - unless your balance owed to the College is LESS than
$100.00us. Both banks are STILL providing monetary incentives and ‘no
minimum’ balances for students.
If you have any
questions about the
FACTS, click
on that link.
You will find a
FACTS
brochure everywhere throughout the college. Every faculty, counselor, and
administrative office has plenty of these fine brochures for you to take and
read. We even have many in the Office of Student Activities, room C101 !
IMPORTANT: The new deadline is
approaching, but is not yet public information. If your balance is more
than $100.00us, you can either pay in FULL immediately when signing up for any
more courses OR you will be using ONLY the FACTS system to make payment
arrangements, whether or not you will be receiving financial aid. ALL
financial aid - when you are using the FACTS system only - will be sent TO THE
FACTS SYSTEM ONLY. All money owed AT THAT TIME will be automatically
deducted from your remaining FACTS balance, but you may still owe a smaller
balance after the full financial aid deductions have been applied.
ALL of your FACTS payments due to FACTS
are to be paid ONLY to FACTS. The College of Lake County WILL NOT PROCESS
NOR ACCEPT ANY PAYMENT FOR YOUR BALANCE OWED once you have signed up for the
FACTS system. You CAN NOT drop the FACTS system UNTIL ALL payments are
made for the current semester. You CAN pay MORE than the minimum payment -
there is no penalty for paying ahead of time to the FACTS system.
Some recent history:
The Office of Student Life had re-invited
National City Bank to be on the Grayslake campus Tuesday, August 22nd,
2006:
9:00am to 1:00pm
&
4:00pm
to 6:00pm
The Office of Student Life had also
previously invited National City Bank and First Midwest Bank to be on campus the week
of August 14th, 2006
The bank representatives
were available on the GRAYSLAKE campus from:
9:00am to 1:00pm
on
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
At the Lakeshore campus (Waukegan), bank
representatives were available
on Thursday
from 10am to Noon and 5:00pm to 7:00pm
and also on
Friday from 10:00am to Noon
TO ALL POTENTIAL STUDENTS ALREADY
REGISTERED:
1) CLC has delayed last night's (Wednesday, 8-16-2006) scheduled drop to provide
those students, you, who have not yet paid nor secured financial payment
arrangements, with more time to meet your payment responsibilities or to secure
financial aid or a combination of both.
2) THE Reason we are delaying the drop:
College faculty, staff, and administrators have tried hard to communicate with
you about our recently enforced
policy regarding adherence to tuition due dates, but despite our sincere
efforts, we’re finding that a number of students are still not aware of the
serious consequences of not meeting their due
dates. This is as real as it gets, folks -
YOU COULD HAVE BEEN DROPPED FROM ALL OF
YOUR CLASSES IN ONE, AUTOMATIC STEP!
For this reason, the drop for nonpayment has been delayed
until very early in the semester, a short time after classes start. This time
frame was selected to minimize disruption to your life here as student,
faculty, or staff.
3) The drop will still be conducted,
however: Although this delay gives you a little more time to meet your
tuition responsibilities, it is important for you to know that your tuition
responsibilities remain unchanged. To keep your place in all of your classes,
you must pay in full OR arrange a tuition payment plan utilizing only the FACTS
system OR obtain financial aid
OR a combination of financial aid and FACTS payment plan. The payment plan will
be only through the FACTS system - UNLESS the money you owe the college totals less
than $100.00us.
In this latter case, you will be paying in full, as there will be no
payment plan offered to cover this lesser amount.
The classes you registered for will be dropped early in
the semester if you do not take one of these mentioned steps. Your
CLC full registration may also be cancelled, very possibly causing yourself to go
through the whole orientation, counseling, and registration process again - not
just re-registering for classes.
4) Some history: The college had conducted drops for non
payment up until about five years ago. Since we have reinstated a policy this semester that
many students are not familiar with, we are leaning - temporarily - to giving students a
little more time to meet their financial obligations. In addition to taking
this step, for the spring semester (Spring 2007), we will conduct an assessment of how we can
improve the implementation of the class drop process, examining issues such as
the dates set for conducting the drops and what further communication is needed
with you, the CLC student.
-------------------------------------------
Other college policies provide that this assessment process must
directly involve you, the student, in communicating and discussing your concerns
or suggestions about: this process, the FACTS system, and our assessment
methods.
